Depois da tempestade...

Uma semana inteira. Parece demasiado para uma simples gripe, mas foi precisamente uma semana que esta doença me violou. Violou-me a natural boa disposição, as noitadas, and so on...

Mas ultrapassada a doença, decidi fazer aquilo que todo o homem deve fazer depois de uma semana de quarentena.

Cortar o cabelo!!!

Óbvio, não?

Não. Quem me conhece sabe que cortar o cabelo é uma daquelas coisas que requer reflexão, determinação e coragem. Afinal, não se trata apenas de cortar o cabelo. Eu queria um novo corte, um statement para o exterior, um out with the old and get ready to face the brand new me.

Depois de tanto ouvir amigos, conhecidos e até estranhos falar num hairstylist de Leiria (hairstylist surge aqui como sinónimo de cabeleireiro/barbeiro, mas com muito mais estilo), rendi-me e decidi experimentar, traindo abruptamente a relação que mantinha com a minha, até à data, hairdresser (curiosa a diferença).

Marcada a sessão, eis que surjo na Visual Concept - Beauty Center (Av. Nossa Sr.ª de Fátima) e informo da minha marcação com o "Dani", provavelmente diminutivo para Daniel, mas creio que claramente muito menos impressionante no mundo da estética capilar.

Durante toda a experiência, estou certo que em algum momento deixei escapar um WOW. Ainda que apreensivo no início, rápido dei conta que a escassos centímetros de mim, estava alguém com inegável talento e habilidades raras para alguém que exerce o ofício.

Acreditem, este "Dani" faz com que todos os outros barbeiros/cabeleireiras que já me atenderam pareçam verdadeiros talhantes de cabelo.

Desde o atendimento afável, simpático e cordial, à execução atenta, minuciosa e excelsa com que opera as, sem exagero mais de 20 tesouras e navalhas (trust me... he has a whole suitcase of those), dou-lhe 5 estrelas. Fuck it, 6. Até me ajudou a vestir o casaco.

Caro, é verdade, mas depois deste ego-boost, o que é o dinheiro comparado com todos os elogios que recebi hoje ;)

Recomendo vivamente a quem gosta de cuidar da sua imagem e não se importa de gastar mais algum dinheiro para o conseguir.

Por vezes, faz toda a diferença.

Talked to the Devil today, and every time I do, I always remembers one thing.

First, she is usually right, and wrong, if we put things into perspective. Second, she always makes a fair point. And last but not least... following her advice will always, always get you into trouble.

But at the end of the day... it is up to you to decide, whether or not you'll fall for it.

If you're like me, a saint that means no one harm, you'll ignore her and keep up your path far from temptations, and you will live happily ever after… that is, until you crumble up in despair when you take a long look to your life and all you’ve been missing out.

But if by any chance you are like the other me... a misogynous freak that always peeps to the other side of the fence, where the grass always seems greener, and unbelievably beautiful naked ladies lay on it... then my friend... you're in for the time of your life, just bear in mind that’s this only lasts till the devil comes to collect.

… and she will.

Obviously the devil here portrayed is representing a friend of mine, just in case you’re dumb enough to think that I actually talk to demons. But she’s right. Sometimes we forget to live life and spice up things a bit.

We all need passion, fun, laughter and joy, but we often fall into that predicament that ultimately leads us to routine.

The same old habits.

Giving up your way just to avoid small fights.

A night movie sometimes feels right… nightly movies don’t.

And bit by bit, all begins to taste the same, and the color of your life story begins to fade to gray.

Now I’m not telling you to go out and make a mess out of your life, to end up that relationship and bang every piece of meat you find in your way to the next bar.

But like my friend the devil says…

"We’re only here once… and if someone is dragging you back, there is a lot others that can at least make you smile in your way to the top."

And we all need joy.

A sense of freedom.

The right to want more.

The urge to have it here and now rather than there and later.

And as much we need to compromise on some things, in others we shouldn’t, because when you do…

You find yourself talking to the devil… and she is coming to collect.

Começar por explicar a condição que nos remete para uma vida a dois, é por si só empreitada a que não me atrevo a começar...
Sim amar é bom, dar a atenção e carinho que a outra parte deseja é crucial. Mimar e aconchegar-nos à lareira é impagável e dar o melhor de nós próprios à nossa outra metade é o segredo para uma vida a dois.

Mas por vezes...
... em raras, mas extraordinárias ocasiões, tudo o que é preciso é uma valente f***.

MARAVILHOSA INÉRCIA

"férias após férias, dias passam e ninguém parece ver, que contudo o tempo passa e depressa parece correr."

Nunca fui grande poeta, nem tão pouco a isso aspiro, mas é particularmente em dias cinzentos e frios, particularmente propícios à introspecção profunda, que percorre a nu o corpo, que descobrimos os elos de ligação que temos para com a nossa existência mundana.

Mas nestas coisas de procura de identidade ou pertença na realidade eu realmente não sou muito bom. Perco-me demasiado e demasiadas vezes nos meus próprios pensamentos, e rapidamente me desvio do desafio que o meu subconsciente à partida se propôs. Tal como no cumprimento atempado de entregas de trabalhos, e apesar dos grandes planos, graciosamente delineados e de execução excelsa, quando chega a hora de pôr mãos à obra, ou para ser mais preciso, no teclado, sou atingido por uma incontrolável força que canaliza as minhas energias para outras tarefas, curiosamente, muitas vezes relacionadas com o ócio.

Atenção, entenda-se e perceba-se inequivocamente que não há nada que possa fazer para contornar este fenómeno, e acreditem no que digo, porque apesar de saber de antemão que esta força ou macabro poder que me impossibilita de melhor prestação me levar a melhor, luto arduamente contra ele...

...e que de cada vez que estas lutas de dimensão apoteótica têm lugar, saio invariavelmente derrotado.

PLAYING STUNTS ON ME???

Shame on those who dare to bring me down.

One thing is to tempt to lure me with a refined and subtle polish on my ego, just to suddenly sweep the rug under my feet and try to hit me unbalanced. I could consider that smart and a compelling challenge, now, a completely different thing is to deliberately push me down with arrogance, just because they have achieved a privileged higher hierarchic position, forgetting that their supposed assumption may be utterly wrong, or plain stupid. In fact, if they stop to process the idea that they are slightly older, which obviously granted them opportunities to prove themselves in society, or just go through all those job interviews that opened that golden door he one day passed that led them to that higher position.

Not trying to take their credit, they may in fact be very good at what they do, but, to instantly assume that their better than me…. Well, like Armstrong once said, “it’s a giant leap…”

Come to think about it, if they were really that good, they would rapidly come to the conclusion that they shouldn’t pass judgments on those they are not acquainted. I’m all in favor to show all that manly superiority in first encounters, just to give that extra leverage on the connections followed, but to do it, you definitely need to do it with all the savoir-fare, charisma or whatever you want to call it, or you may end shooting yourself on the foot.

Show you’re better, show you’re confident, but don’t be cocky.
